Job Description

The Electronic Systems Laboratory (ELSYS) Test Engineering Division (TEN) is currently seeking an Electronic Warfare (EW) Technical Demonstrations Researcher for a full time research faculty position at the Dayton, Ohio Field Office. TEN develops Hardware in the Loop (HITL) test sets, test tools, analysis tools and test methods for US Air Force, Army, Navy and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) sponsors. Our research is critical for supporting development, debug, analysis and test of Electronic Warfare (EW) and Integrated EW (IEW) systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Develop EW demonstration plans tailored to specific systems based on sponsored requirements
  • Research and build complex Radio Frequency (RF) scenarios based on EW demonstration plans
  • Lead EW demo projects and teams in the Integrated Demonstrations and Applications Laboratory (IDAL)
  • Utilize EW expertise to troubleshoot lab and system-under-test issues across specific system demonstrations
  • Analyze data based on EW demonstrations and scenario outputs and develop reports based on the data
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate II

  • A Master’s degree in Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Business Administration or related field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Business Administration or related field and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Business Administration or related field.

Senior Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate

  • A Master’s degree in Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Business Administration or related field and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Business Administration or related field and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Business Administration or related field and four (4) years of relevant full time experience.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Consideration will be given to candidates that do not have a Master's degree with 10+ years of experience performing in roles that align with the responsibilities and requirements defined for this position.
  • Experience with radar and EW systems testing, verification and validation
  • 7+ years of experience in the design and test of EW systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with RF simulation for receiver and jammer systems including complex modeling and RF simulation of radar systems in lab environments
  • Experience capturing and evaluating waveforms in the frequency and time domains
  • Experience working with EW systems over multiple Test Readiness Levels (TRLs)
  • Experience working with intelligence data products
  • Experience leading small to mid-sized projects and/or research teams

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
