Job Description

The System Security Engineer in the Technology Insertion Branch (TIB) will provide systems security expertise for product development. This position will work closely with hardware and software developers to design and implement systems that are secure in their implementation while still accomplishing their mission. The position is required to collaborate with the Department of Defense (DoD) researchers to develop, build, and field Electronic Warfare Systems that typically require significant security features to protect critical information and functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Serve as a technical expert in the fields of security engineering, cybersecurity, and anti-tamper for current and upcoming projects
  • Identify system security needs per DoD provided guidance documents
  • Develop system security planning documentation
  • Design system security features for deployable systems
  • Develop test plans for system security implementations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate II

  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Cybersecurity or related field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Cybersecurity or related field and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Cybersecurity, or related field.

Senior Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate

  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Cybersecurity or related field and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Cybersecurity or related field and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Cybersecurity or related field and four (4) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering role
  • 2+ years of experience with systems-security engineering or a similar relevant role
  • Experience implementing cryptographic technologies in systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the field of Anti-Tamper
  • Experience developing Program Protection Plans and/or Anti-tamper plans for DoD systems
  • Experience identifying Critical Program Information (CPI) in DoD systems
  • Experience in the field of Electronic Warfare
  • Experience designing embedded systems hardware and/or software for deployable systems
  • Active SECRET or higher clearance

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
