Job Description

The Product Support & DevOps Engineer (Mid-Level) in the Electronic Systems Laboratory (ELSYS) Applied Embedded Systems (AES) Division will work closely in concert with development teams who are building complex, multi-faceted systems. The position will conduct state of the art continuous integration and continuous delivery within a broad spectrum of research domains across multiple research projects and products.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Oversee code releases and select deployment models
  • Manage Information Technology (IT) infrastructure needed to support software code development in dedicated or cloud environments
  • Direct testing to validate release and monitor performance after the release
  • Prepare test data, analyze results, troubleshoot problems, and communicate issues back to the development team
  • Work as part of a team on large, complex development efforts
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, A Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Systems Engineering or related degree.

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist II

  • A Master’s degree in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, A Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Systems Engineering or related degree, and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, A Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Systems Engineering or related degree. and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, A Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Systems Engineering or related degree.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of relevant, professional experience
  • Scripting skills, especially with Bash and Python
  • Experience with build tools such as Maven, Gradle, and Make
  • Experience in Linux administration and Configuration Management (Ansible)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery practices, artifact management, and automation pipelines
  • Containerization experience with Kubernetes
  • Experience in cloud computing environments
  • Android development experience
  • Java development experience
  • C development experience
