GTRI’s Cooperative Education (“co-op”) program offers you extensive opportunities to participate in diverse scientific and technological endeavors, use state-of-the-art equipment, and rapidly improve your technical and leadership skills. The program allows you to alternate three semesters of full-time work at GTRI with semesters of full-time school.

GTRI’s Research Technology Group in the Sensors and Electromagnetic Applications Laboratory (SEAL) seeks a student assistant to join the procurement team starting spring 2022. Daily tasks may include processing and delivering packages, updating databases, scanning packing lists and receipts, filing, general office duties, organizing received equipment, assisting with tagging new equipment, scheduling deliveries, performing inventory and resource organization, labeling equipment, etc. The co-op/intern should be interested in learning about databases, simple IT tasks, office organization, and process efficiency.

Required Minimum Qualifications


  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer & Software Engineering, Business, Education, Engineering, or related field
  • Must be eligible to be approved by your college/university to participate in a co-op program and register for co-op credit with your university during work terms
  • Must be able to complete at least three full-time co-op terms (alternating three terms of full-time work at GTRI with semesters of full-time school) prior to graduation
  • 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA


  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer & Software Engineering, Business, Education, Engineering, or related field
  • 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Web browsers, MS Access, and Excel spreadsheets
• Detail-oriented
• The ability to work independently given tasks and departmental policies and guidelines
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Data entry experience
• Filing of records experience
• Excellent organizational skills
• Experience scanning documents
• Excellent record keeping and documentation management
• Good customer service skills

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
