Job Description

The Operations Research Analyst in the Electronic Warfare Modeling and Analysis Division (EWMAD) will research advanced threat analysis, operational employment concepts, advanced EM spectrum management, test and evaluation, and knowledge management primarily through the application of modeling and simulation. This position involves applying operations research and analysis techniques to solve challenging real-world problems related to national defense.

The Electronic Warfare Modeling and Analysis Division (EWMAD) of the Electro-Optical Systems Lab (EOSL) performs modeling, simulation, and analysis in support of Electronic Warfare (EW), Electro-Optical Counter Measures, Physics and Missile Warning Systems, including aircraft self-protection, EO/IR and RF countermeasures, scene generation, laser warning, scattering, propagation and turbulence, and EO/IR and RF signature modeling. 

Job Duties

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate II

  • A Bachelor's and Master's Degree with one or both in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Analytics or related discipline and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Bachelor's and Master's Degree with one or both in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Analytics or related discipline and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Bachelor's and Doctoral Degree with one or both in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Analytics or related discipline.

Senior Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate

  • A Bachelor's and Master's Degree with one or both in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Analytics or related discipline and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Bachelor's and Master's Degree with one or both in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Analytics or related discipline and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Bachelor's and Doctoral Degree with one or both in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Analytics or related discipline and four (4) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 4 years of experience practicing operations analysis on complex, real-world problems related to national defense.
  • Extensive experience in advanced quantitative analysis of systems and operations.
  • Excellent technical skills, including numerical modeling, statistical computing, and scripting skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills are required.
  • Written and oral communication skills are important.
  • Candidates should have comfort in both defining and solving difficult problems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Top Secret Clearance
  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Analytics or related discipline
  • Experience using Matlab, Python, C, C++, R, and AFSIM
  • Experience or expertise in one or more of the following: Aerospace systems, EO/IR or radar for air and ground-based applications, Electronic warfare techniques, Current and future kill chains, Intelligence gathering and analysis, Military operations, Analysis of military systems, or Military systems/SoS technical knowledge
  • Experience leading small to mid-sized teams of research engineers and technical staff

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
