Job Description
GTRI’s Advanced Warfighting Technologies Division (AWTD) in the Advanced Concepts Laboratory (ACL) seeks qualified candidates to participate in our STEM@GTRI High School Summer Internship program. This position will be in AWTD’s Technical Integration Branch, which focuses on the rapid prototyping of concepts for ground maneuver forces. The position involves applying technical skills to develop and assess system prototypes. It also involves conducting sponsored research projects in close collaboration with computer scientists, electrical engineers, and other scientists and engineers.
Qualified students will have experience with design tools, hardware/software integration, modeling and simulation tools, and/or rapid prototyping. AWTD engages in research related to counter-proliferation technologies, special operations enablers, and advanced ground maneuver concepts.
Furthermore, the division provides world-class, forward-looking thought leadership and turn-key, best-of-class warfighting technologies focused on countering weapons of mass destruction (CWMD) and changing the future of ground maneuver warfare for the U.S. Government and other sponsors.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Intern
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in 1 or more programming languages: preferably Solidworks
- Task/team leadership experience with other engineers or peer students
- Strong math skills and ability to learn complex engineering concepts
- Configuration management tools
- Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas
- Ability to work within groups
- Secret Clearance
Hours per Week
24 hours per week
U.S. Citizenship Requirements
Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
Clearance Type Required
Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
