Job Description

The Aerospace, Transportation and Advanced Systems (ATAS) Laboratory is seeking a Graduate Assistant for Summer 2026.The GRA will investigate a thermal science/heat thesis scope that entails developing real-time, (primarily) physics-based approaches to modeling and simulating food product temperature field (inclusive of core temperature) evolution while being heated/cooked. The work would also interface state-of-the-art thermal imaging attempts to capture evolving surface temperature contours as a temporal boundary condition.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Graduate Assistant

  • Pursuing a Master’s degree or PhD at Georgia Tech in Mechanical Engineering. 
  • Must be registered for at least 3+ credit hours with your university
  • Must have a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Commit to 10-20 hours of work per week

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in 1 or more programming languages
  • Interest/affinity for thermal systems design
  • Task / team leadership  experience
  • Strong math skills and ability to learn complex engineering concepts
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas
