Job Description

The Aerospace, Transportation and Advanced Systems (ATAS) Laboratory is seeking a Graduate Research Assistant for Spring 2027. The Graduate Research Assistant will investigate a thermal science/heat scope that entails developing real-time, (primarily) physics-based approaches to modeling and simulating food product temperature field (inclusive of core temperature) evolution while being heated/cooked. The work would also interface state-of-the-art thermal imaging attempts to capture evolving surface temperature contours as a temporal boundary condition. 

Required Minimum Qualifications

Graduate Research Assistant

  • Pursuing a Master’s degree or PhD at Georgia Tech in Mechanical Engineering. 
  • Must be enrolled full-time (12+ credit hours)
  • Must have a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in 1 or more programming languages
  • Interest/affinity for thermal systems design
  • Interest in related automation attempts
  • Strong math skills and ability to learn complex engineering concepts
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas
  • Prior exposure to thermal management for enhanced industrial cooking
