Job Description

As part of the Information and Cybersecurity Department (ICD), the Information Security Operations Center (ISOC) student intern will play a supporting role in unclassified network monitoring, alert triage, suspicious email identification, and vulnerability management. The ideal candidate for this role is responsive to mentoring and enthusiastic in the pursuit of cybersecurity knowledge and skills. They also can respond to unfamiliar and time-sensitive situations appropriately.  Students will work a hybrid schedule of at least two days in office per week.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Intern

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts, standards, guidelines, and principles
  • Interest in information/cyber security
  • Can communicate effectively and work independently
  • 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Must be registered for Full-time Internship Credit

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with networking, software development and/or information technology systems
  • Experience with cybersecurity tools such as: Splunk, CrowdStrike, Tenable.io, Axonious
  • Familiarity with industry-recognized security and analysis frameworks (MITRE ATT&CK, Cyber Kill Chain, NIST, etc.)

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
