Job Description

Georgia Tech Research Institute’s Sensors and Electromagnetic Applications Laboratory (SEAL) is currently seeking a graduate student to join our Maritime Systems Branch in person in Smyrna, GA for Fall 2025. Students will assist Research Engineers in working with commercial off the shelf audio acoustic hardware and signal processing testing and analysis. Students should be able to leverage programing skills in MATLAB, and have a fundamental understanding or coursework in signal processing theory. Students should be interested in learning about underwater acoustic sonar and operating audio acoustics hardware. This position is fully in person at Cobb County Research Facility in Smyrna, GA with no options for remote work.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Graduate Research Assistant

• Pursuing a Master’s degree or PhD at Georgia Tech in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, Computational Science/Engineering, Music Technology, or similar major
• Must be enrolled full-time (12+ credit hours)
• Must have a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
• Commit to 15-20 hours of work per week

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience programming in Matlab and/or Simulink
• Experience with signal processing and/or theoretical acoustics
• Experience working with audio acoustics hardware

Hours per Week

15–20 hours per week
