Job Description

GTRI's Electronic Systems Laboratory (ELSYS) is currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Student Assistant to begin working in the Summer of 2026 and continuing into Fall 2026 semester. The Student Assistant will work under the guidance of GTRI researchers to support the Sponsored Research Operations Branch, Air National Guard Division, Electronic Systems Laboratory on the Georgia Tech campus. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in project management, operations, and process improvement within a research environment.

 Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the execution of key operational and process‑improvement initiatives within the division
  • Draft and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support consistent and efficient processes
  • Collaborate with staff to identify opportunities for process automation or other improvements
  • Support procurement activities, including ordering supplies, tracking materials, and managing project purchasing activities
  • Contribute to project timeline management by administering status reports, monitoring progress, and assisting with project budget preparation
  • Assist with tracking and maintaining sponsored property inventory

 

Required Minimum Qualifications

Student Assistant/Research Assistant

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management or related discipline
  • 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Must be registered for at least 6 credit hours with your university

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with Smartsheet software and Workday (helpful but not required).
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage varying tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment

10–20 hours per week

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
